Azerbaijan will host the 4th International Conference on Missing Persons within the framework of the Baku Dialogue on Missing Persons.
This year’s Conference will be held under the theme:
“Strengthening Trust and Developing Effective Mechanisms and Solutions in Addressing the Issue of Missing Persons.”
A central focus of this year’s discussions will be trust between the parties concerned. Experience shows that meaningful progress in determining the fate of missing persons is impossible without cooperation, transparency and the timely exchange of accurate information.
Particular attention will therefore be given to the importance of providing comprehensive information on missing persons, including available data on mass and individual burial sites, as well as to the possibility of joint humanitarian work between parties to conflicts aimed at locating, recovering and identifying the missing.
The Conference seeks to move beyond discussion and contribute to practical and sustainable mechanisms that can strengthen cooperation, protect the right of families to know, facilitate the exchange of relevant information, and expand the use of modern forensic, DNA and technological solutions.
Representatives of states, international organizations, experts, families and other stakeholders will once again come together in Baku to exchange experience and explore concrete ways of turning humanitarian cooperation into tangible results.
For thousands of families, uncertainty has lasted far too long.
Trust begins with information. Cooperation must lead to answers.
